Trapper’s Cabin
Site: Pitkin County, Colorado. Elevation 8,800 ft.
The Project: 500-square-foot structure designed in tribute to an 1890s prospector’s cabin—a couple’s dream hideout—but with well-hidden modern amenities and conveniences, such as radiant-heat floors, an automated sprinkler system in the roof, and
a wine cellar.
Materials/Methods: Construction includes scribe-fit standing-dead logs from the Flat Tops Wilderness and antique roof boards.
Services Provided: Log and timber design and construction.
